Double Twisted Wire Mesh Gabions Zinc Coated Galvanized Manufactured in ASTM Standard

The wire is zinc coating, which is applied prior to manufacturing the mesh. Coating styles are as follows:

Wire mesh made from wire zinc coated before being double twisted into mesh. Fasteners, lacing wire, and stiffeners are produced from zinc-coated wire. Double twisted wire gabions are used for Permanent Gabion structures and Temporary Gabion structures construction.

Samples of materials used to fabricate the gabions are sent 60 days prior to start of installation. Samples will be tested in accordance with specification and ASTM A975.

Note: Electro galvanized gabions cost less yet easy to get rusty compared with hot dipped galvanized, electro galvanzied gabions are not popularly used.

Basket Gabions types and sizes

Gabion baskets are constructed from steel wire with mechanical characteristics higher than ones suggested from EN 10223-3. The steel wire used in the manufacture of the gabion heavily galvanized with Galfan, a Zn-5%Al-MM (mischmetal) alloy, then a 0.5 mm thick PVC/Epoxy coating is applied.  

Minimum weight of zinc coating per unit area of uncoated wire surface min. 200 gms per square meter.
The tensile strength of the wire shall be between 40-50 kg / mm2 

Gabion cage basket made of wire netting double twisted to form a square mesh of 100 mm x 100 mm size.
Wire gauge: 10 gauge wire used for the mesh panels, tolerance of wire diameter ±2.5%. 

All edges of the gabions are finished with a selvedge wire of 8 gauges. 
Diaphragms manufactured of the same materials as the parent gabion and selvedge wire throughout the perimeter. Basket of gabions are supplied with binding and connecting wires to bind all diaphragms and closing edges.
